Privacy Policy
Effective: May 24, 2026
1. Introduction
No Hotdog ("we," "us," "our") operates nohotdog.love. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect as little data as possible to run the Service.
2. Information We Collect
From Google, Apple, and Clerk (authentication)
Email address, first name, last name, and profile image — provided by your selected sign-in provider when you sign in.
You provide
Username, display name, bio, location, profile visibility preference, membership allocation preferences, notification preferences, email communication preferences, and Impact Fund survey or cause-area preference answers.
Payment data
Provider customer or account identifiers, subscription status, and transaction records such as amounts, timestamps, provider, and allocation snapshots. Web payment credentials are handled by Stripe. If native iOS purchases are offered, Apple may process those payments. We never see or store your card number, CVV, or Apple payment credentials.
Community, voting, and boost data
Membership tier, boost balances and purchase/revocation records, voting drops, likes, passes, boosts, boost comments, boost refunds, referrals, invite counts, leaderboard participation, in-app notification state, and related timestamps.
Mobile notification data
If you use the iOS app and enable push notifications, we may collect notification permission/settings data and a device push token so we can send permitted notifications, such as live voting alerts.
Automatic data
Standard server logs (IP address, browser user-agent) and Convex platform usage data.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Process subscription payments and maintain membership and transaction history
- Show which recipients and projects your membership has supported
- Apply saved membership allocation preferences and consider Impact Fund survey answers when making fund decisions
- Run voting drops, like/pass records, boosts, boost balances, referrals, invite rewards, and member leaderboards
- Show in-app notifications, archive/clear notification state, and respect notification preferences
- Power public profiles (public by default, opt out anytime)
- Show community statistics (e.g., subscriber count)
- Send email communications about your impact, projects, and community news (enabled by default, opt out anytime)
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following services to operate:
- Clerk — authentication (privacy policy)
- Stripe — payment processing (privacy policy)
- Apple — iOS platform services and, if offered, native payment processing (privacy policy)
- Convex — database and backend (privacy policy)
- Google — OAuth provider (privacy policy)
We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking analytics.
5. Data Retention
Account data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account by contacting us — deletion is processed through Clerk, which triggers removal of your user record.
Membership, transaction, payout, and disbursement records are retained indefinitely for financial auditing, operational reporting, and transparency purposes.
Voting, boost, referral, and leaderboard records may be retained to preserve voting integrity, prevent abuse, support audits, and keep member histories coherent, even if display mechanics change over time.
6. Public Information
The total member count, aggregate funding statistics, aggregate voting results, project support totals, and some leaderboard data may be public. Individual profiles are public by default — you can make yours private via your profile settings. If your profile is public, your username, display name, profile image, tier label, referral leaderboard placement, loyalty leaderboard placement, and social voting/boost activity may be displayed in the Service.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard security practices: Clerk provides enterprise-grade authentication, Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant, Convex encrypts data at rest, social sign-in means we never store passwords, and all webhook signatures are verified.
8. Your Rights
- View your data anytime in your dashboard
- Edit your profile at any time
- Adjust supported email, notification, and profile visibility settings
- Delete your account by contacting us
- Financial, voting, boost, referral, and integrity records may be retained per our retention policy even after account deletion
For applicable jurisdictions: you may have additional rights to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.
9. Children
No Hotdog is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
10. Cookies
We use essential session cookies only (for Clerk authentication). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
11. Email Communications
Members receive project updates and community news by default. You can opt out at any time via your profile settings. In-app notifications may be shown in the app and can be archived or cleared. Mobile push notifications are permission-based. Transactional emails (payment confirmations, account changes) are always sent regardless of your preference.
12. Changes to This Policy
Updates will be posted on this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site.
13. Contact
No Hotdog is operated by Benjamin Hause. For privacy-related questions, contact us at ben@nohotdog.love or reach out on Discord.
