1. Introduction
No Hotdog ("we," "us," "our") operates nohotdog.love and the No Hotdog iOS app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect as little data as possible to run the Service.
2. Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign in, we receive basic account details from your selected sign-in provider, such as your email address, name, and profile image. You may also add profile details like a username, display name, bio, location, avatar or profile photo, and profile visibility setting.
Membership and payment information
We keep the information needed to manage memberships, purchases, and account access, including subscription status, purchase history, App Store transaction information, and payment provider identifiers. Stripe and Apple process payments; we do not see or store your card number, CVV, or Apple payment credentials.
App activity and preferences
We store the choices and activity needed to run the community, such as membership preferences, voting choices, boosts, chat messages, direct messages, comments, reactions, reports, moderation actions, invites, leaderboard participation, notification preferences, and feedback or support requests you send us.
Device and usage information
If you enable push notifications, we store the device token and related delivery information needed to send and troubleshoot them. Like most online services, we also receive product interaction, diagnostic, and log information from the app, the web app, and privacy-preserving web analytics. We do not use advertising trackers or cross-app/cross-site tracking analytics.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Manage memberships, purchases, and account access
- Run voting, boosts, invites, member history, and leaderboards
- Apply saved preferences and show relevant community content
- Send permitted email, in-app, and push notifications
- Power public profiles when profile visibility is enabled
- Show community statistics (e.g., subscriber count)
- Keep the Service secure, reliable, and working as expected
4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following services to operate:
- Clerk — authentication (privacy policy)
- Stripe — payment processing (privacy policy)
- Apple — iOS platform services, Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and push notification delivery (privacy policy)
- Convex — database and backend (privacy policy)
- Resend — email delivery (privacy policy)
- Vercel — web hosting and privacy-preserving web analytics (privacy policy)
- Google — OAuth provider (privacy policy)
We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising or cross-app/cross-site tracking analytics.
5. Data Retention
We keep account information while your account is active. You can delete your account by contacting us, and we will remove or de-identify account information where reasonably possible.
Some records may be kept longer when needed for accounting, subscription administration, disbursement records, refunds, chargebacks, security, community integrity, moderation, legal compliance, or to preserve coherent member and community history.
6. Public Information
Community totals, aggregate funding information, voting results, public magazine engagement, comments, and leaderboard information may be visible to members or the public. If your profile visibility is enabled, your profile and selected community activity may also be visible. You can change profile visibility in your settings.
7. Data Security
We use security practices appropriate for the Service: Clerk provides authentication, Stripe handles card processing, Convex encrypts data at rest, social sign-in means we never store passwords, and provider webhooks or signed payloads are verified.
8. Your Rights
- View supported account data in the app or web app
- Edit your profile at any time
- Adjust supported email, notification, and profile visibility settings
- Request access, correction, export, or deletion by contacting us
- Some records may remain when needed for the reasons described in our retention policy
For applicable jurisdictions: you may have additional rights to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.
9. Children
No Hotdog is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
10. Cookies
We use essential session cookies only (for Clerk authentication). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
11. Email Communications
Members may receive project updates and community news. You can opt out of non-transactional email in settings. In-app notifications may be shown in the app and can be archived or cleared. Mobile push notifications are permission-based. Transactional emails, such as payment confirmations and account changes, may still be sent regardless of your preference.
12. Changes to This Policy
Updates will be posted on this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site.
